Artist Statement
My work is an exploration of our dynamic human experience, perceived through the subjective lens of our temporary physical, mental, and spiritual journeys. I depict this progression toward self-awareness and fullest potential using symbols, such as stairs and ladders. Broken and unbalanced, each step must be navigated independently, reflecting the multifaceted paths we traverse. Doors, portals, and passages in my compositions indicate transitions from one state of being to another, suggesting maps of where we are navigating and where we have been. Lines in my work are obscured, broken, and reconnected to represent the interplay between deliberate choices and chance.

My creative process mirrors these themes. Painting with encaustic requires me to accept and allow the materials to lead the way. Hot wax, with its unpredictable nature, forces me to abandon preconceived notions and embrace the spontaneity of the medium and moment. This practice results in a delicate balance between my deliberate artistic choices, intuition, and the physical properties of the paint.

Ultimately, my paintings serve as visual rumination on impermanence, spirit, and the inner knowing that gently guides us. They invite viewers to contemplate their own journeys and the ever-shifting landscapes of their lives
