My artwork is inspired by the varied natural habitats around me. I want to create connection with the natural world and its organic beauty; I want to draw the viewer into that existence, to stir a recognition or realization of the beauty while it remains.
I use random patterns applied in multiple layers of brushstrokes to emulate the chaos that is the natural environment. The subjects of my paintings are the varied places of water, woods, and fields. I apply linear patterns--brush strokes a layer of burnt umber--not in the pursuit of realism, but to reflect depth and mystery.
